With shanty pads squatting on mud hills -- Exploring Rose Hill
In the final Eastside neighborhood exploration undertaken with Dooley I explored Rose Hill. The small residential area, founded in 1904, is the center of a surprisingly heated battle between the El Sereno Historical Society and LA-32 Neighborhood Council, both of which make some pretty crazy claims. Ignoring that noise completely, I just walked around and saw what I could see.

As I look back on my education -- Exploring University Hills
As I look back on my education -- Exploring University Hills
I recently explored the neighborhood of University Hills. Thanks in large part to the Luckman Fine Arts Complex, located on the campus of Cal State LA, the district is a major arts hub on the Eastside. However, exploring those hilly streets I discovered there’s more to the neighborhood too.

Garbanzo Ramble -- Exploring the Garvanza Neighborhood at the Amoeblog
A few weeks ago I explored the Northeast Los Angeles Victorian and Craftsman neighborhood of Garvanza with a dog named Dooley. In the prcoess strayed into the previously unknown (to me) Arroyo View Estates and Pasadena. A couple weeks later I returned to check out Judson Studios and in the process re-discovered the Abbey San Encino.

From the lions' dens and the mountain haunts of leopards -- Exploring Hermon
From the lions' dens and the mountain haunts of leopards -- Exploring Hermon
A few weeks ago, Dooley and I explored the small neighborhood of Hermon, in Northeast Los Angeles. It's home to historic folk art, a few restaurants, some interesting homes, and of course -- a unique history.
